Trade Supervisor Essentials

Setting clear expectations for your trades team helps avoid expensive errors and rework, encourages people to speak up before small problems become big ones, and keeps your team engaged and empowered to do their best work.

Designed for technical tradespeople, the Trade Supervisor Essentials workshop gives participants the coaching, mentoring and communication skills to set expectations clearly from the outset, have the conversations, formal and informal, that actually shift performance, and build a team that's engaged, confident, and less likely to walk.

  • A half-day face-to-face workshop
  • A full-day face-to-face workshop

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who is Trade Supervisor Essentials for?

This workshop is designed for technical tradespeople who are moving into a supervisory role, or who are already supervising a team and want to build stronger coaching, mentoring and communication skills.

  • What's the difference between the half-day and full-day options?

The full-day option includes more time for discussion, practice, and applying the skills to real scenarios from your workplace.

  • Why is it important to set clear expectations with your team?

When expectations aren't clear, people fill the gaps with their own assumptions about what's expected. That's how avoidable mistakes, rework and safety issues creep in.

Trade Supervisor Essentials gives supervisors practical tools to communicate expectations clearly from day one, so the whole team knows what "good" looks like before the job starts.

  • What is psychological safety, and why does it matter for trade teams?

Psychological safety is a team's confidence that they can ask questions, flag mistakes, or raise concerns without being judged for it. On the tools, that matters. The earlier a problem or hazard gets raised, the cheaper and safer it is to fix.

Trade Supervisor Essentials helps supervisors build this kind of trust through the way they run everyday conversations, from formal check-ins to quick chats on the job.

  • Does employee engagement reduce staff turnover?

In a trades business, recruiting and training a replacement costs real time and money. Teams that feel supported and clear on what's expected of them are far more likely to stick around.

Trade Supervisor Essentials builds the coaching, and feedback skills supervisors need to keep their teams engaged and turnover low.
