Course Overview
The BSB30220 Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business is a nationally recognised qualification that develops the foundational skills and knowledge required to plan, establish and operate a small business or business activity.
This qualification is suitable for individuals who:
- are considering starting a business
- have recently established a small business
- want to develop practical business and entrepreneurial skills
- are applying business concepts within an existing workplace
Delivery and Study Mode
This course is delivered:
- online via the MiTraining Learning Management System (LMS)
- self-paced, allowing flexibility around work and personal commitments
- with trainer support available on request
There are no scheduled classroom sessions or workshops.
Duration
The course is typically completed within:
- 12 months (full-time equivalent)
Learners may take up to 24 months depending on:
- prior experience
- business activity or workplace access
- available study time
Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisite qualifications.
To enrol, learners must:
- have access to a computer and internet
- provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Learners may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment based on previous education levels.
Learners will need access to one of the following to complete assessment tasks:
- their own business or business idea
- a workplace where business concepts can be applied
- a simulated business environment
Course Structure
This qualification consists of:
- 4 core units
- 6 elective units
MiTraining delivers this qualification using a set elective stream aligned to small business and entrepreneurial activities.
Assessment
Assessment is designed to ensure you can apply business concepts in practical contexts.
Assessment methods may include:
- written knowledge questions
- business planning activities
- development of proposals and financial plans
- projects based on business scenarios
- application of skills in a workplace or simulated environment
To achieve the qualification, you must be assessed as competent in all units of competency.
Application of Skills
Assessment activities are designed to be applied in:
- a small business environment
- your own business concept or idea
- a workplace context
- a simulated business environment (where required)

Certification
On successful completion of all requirements, you will be issued with a certificate for the nationally recognised course, BSB30220 Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business.
If you do not complete all units, you may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment and Record of Results for units successfully completed.
