Mental Health First Aid® (Standard) courses are similar to many other accredited training courses and require participants to attend face-to-face workshops across two days.
While the face-to-face delivery format is a great option and delivered in more than 15 locations, we recognise that people with busy schedules require flexibility.
That is why MiTraining offers Mental Health First Aid Blended Online Delivery.
How Does MHFA™ Blended Online Delivery Work?
Our Blended Online option gives participants the ability to complete a Mental Health First Aid® (Standard) course through a more convenient process.
Here’s how it works:
Participants complete an initial self-paced, e-learning component to introduce the Mental Health First Aid Australia prescribed course content.
This e-learning portion is supplied prior to two instructor-led video conferences and equates to 5-7 hours of individual learning. The material is a pre-requisite for the video conferences and must be completed by participants to progress.
Once the e-learning content has been finalised, participants are invited to join two instructor-led sessions of around 3 hours, each conducted via online video conferencing.
These interactive sessions are held over two separate days and are scheduled one week apart.
The Blended Online Delivery format is designed to be an immersive, interactive experience, and each session is facilitated by an accredited MHFA™ instructor.
What Content is Covered in the Blended Online Format?
The Blended Online Format provides similar course content to that a participant would receive if they were attending a face-to-face MHFA™ course.
Blended Online participants have the option to choose from raining tailored to provide actionable skills relevant to the workplace or community settings.
Both options include adapted Mental Health First Aid® approved course content specific to workplaces or community settings. Examples and scenarios are included throughout the respective courses to provide applicable information and activities for the participants’ selection.
All participants learn The Mental Health First Aid® (Standard) course structure which covers topics including:
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Panic attacks
- Traumatic events
- Severe psychotic states
- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
- Aggressive behaviours

Course Entry Requirements
To participate in a Blended Online Mental Health First Aid® Course, each participant must have access to the following resources at a minimum:
- Computer with reliable internet access
- Web camera
- Headset and/or speaker system
- Microphone
- Ability to access PDF documents
